Chef Michael Nankovski
Born and raised in Macedonia, Chef Michael Nankovski arrived in New York with his parents in 1970, at the age of twelve. That same year he began as a dishwasher with Sea View Catering on Coney Island. Just a teenager, Chef Michael secured his first job as a preparation cook at Giovanni’s in New York and developed his culinary skills for a further five-year period.
Very soon after having attended and graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in New York City in 1981, Chef Michael was offered his first great opportunity—as an Executive Chef at the historic Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. Now a Four Seasons property, the Beverly Wilshire was a well-regarded five-star hotel with both a bistro and signature restaurant serving French-Californian cuisine.
Chef Michael has since worked in some of the finest restaurants and private clubs in California, including La Brea Golf Club, The Lakeview Club in Lake Merritt and the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company.
He now brings his seasoned knowledge to the kitchen at the Emery Grille, transforming old world foods into new exotic flavors.
